As an intern you will be responsible for designing experiments, field and lab preparation, routine maintenance, and data analysis. You will be provided the opportunity of being exposed to research activities, allowing you to apply academic background and ultimately be exposed to both Production & Supply and Research & Development at Syngenta.

Job Description

Accountabilities:

  • All tasks and activities assigned are executed according to the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures. Safety is Syngenta’s first priority
  • Develop a knowledgeable understanding of Inbred and Hybrid Seed Production in trialing and innovation within Seeds Production Research
  • Utilize precision agriculture technologies to drive efficiencies in hybrid seed production and trial research
  • Encouraged environment for creative thinking on process improvement in all aspects of Seeds Production Research
  • Lead and own responsibility of assigned trial(s) and learn project management skills to aid in execution of field activities (planting, plot maintenance, irrigation, treatment applications, and notes) and prioritization of the project among other tasks as assigned
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Support of our internal trials (large scale production) with internal Production & Customer
  • Development of strong communication skills and tools to help promote concise and productive communication to maintain agility to continue high productivity
  • Build a better understanding of the end-to-end seeds business through exposure/tours of other functions
  • Assist in managing part time workers
  • Skills developed throughout internship will culminate with a final report and presentation to key stakeholders and management of assigned trial
  • Assist with design and development of prototype field equipment to be used for corn pollen trialing, application, and research

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Requires a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Biology, Ag Business, Precision Agriculture, Ag Mechanized Systems, or another closely related field of study with a graduation date on or after December 2025
  • Must be a current student continuing education upon completion of internship term
  • Prefer a student with Junior or Senior standing
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US

Preferred Requirements:

  • High level of communication (oral and/or written) is extremely important to keep team organized and aware to ensure high quality trialing and execution
  • Attention to detail, and agility to adjust plans and execute accordingly
  • Independent, self-motivated, driven, and customer focused individual able to produce high quality data
  • Experience in Precision Agriculture is preferred but not required
  • Farm or agriculture background is preferred but not required
