Job Description

As a Regional OT Cybersecurity Engineer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our operational technology (OT) environment from cybersecurity threats while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will need a deep understanding of OT cybersecurity, incident response, compliance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. You’d be expected to complete ICS/OT cybersecurity training and potentially acquire associated certification. Exciting, right?

Abilities & Critical Position Information:

Onsite work position in either St. Gabriel, LA, or Omaha, NE, and an individual contributor role. Must be authorized to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship will be provided at this time. Ability to travel 20% of the time is required. You will travel to Syngenta manufacturing sites in the North American region in support of OT Cybersecurity program projects and responsibilities. You must be physically able to climb ladders, lift heavy objects (50 lbs.), or operate industrial equipment, if necessary, for security assessments. Also, able to work in industrial environments, including exposure to extreme temperatures, loud noises, and large machinery.

Qualifications

Required:

  • GED/High School Diploma, military experience, or advanced degree related to Automation/Industrial Controls Engineering or Industrial Cybersecurity.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Operational Technology (OT) support role related to OT Cybersecurity.
  • Excellent understanding of IT and OT network protocols, vulnerability & threat assessment, Purdue model-based network segmentation, and secure network architecture.
  • Excellent understanding of Industrial Control System types such as PLCs, DCSs, SCADA system components, and implementation concepts.
  • Understand industrial instrumentation, fieldbus technologies, and I/O concepts used to gather and transmit control signals necessary to effectively control plant operations.
  • Proficiency in security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM solutions.
  • Knowledge of operating systems commonly used in OT environments, such as Windows, VMS, UNIX, Linux, and device RTOS operating systems such as VxWorks.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity risks and threat landscapes specific to OT and critical infrastructure.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and risk management methodologies (NIST CSF, ISA/IEC 62334).

Preferred:

  • OT Cybersecurity Certifications (e.g. GICSP, GRID, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Claroty, xDome, and Splunk systems.
