Job Description

Role Purpose: 

  • Design and implement corn trialing programs across the designated zone. 
  • Coordinate with PSL / Breeders/Mechanization lead for technical & mechanical aspects 
  • Monitor trial sites to ensure adherence to protocols and standards. Take the lead role in the Mechanization scale up of the geography with hands on knowledge in Drone flying and data capture. 
  • Oversee data collection processes during corn trials. 
  • Analyze trial data to draw meaningful conclusions and provide insights. 
  • Collaborate with data scientists for advanced analytics when required. 
  • Engage with farmers, agricultural extension services, and local communities. 
  • Ensure effective stakeholder relationship management with Mechanization, Germplasm Development, Product Placement, Discovery breeding, Portfolio management, Nursery operations and Traits Development, Agronomy and Product management and sales team by providing needed support, product performance and require specific agronomic and product knowledge. 

 

 

Accountabilities: 

  •   Lead a team of field technicians and temporary staffs. 
  •   Provide guidance and training to ensure efficient trial management. 
  •   Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the team. 
  •    Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy in trial procedures. 
  •    Conduct regular audits of trial sites to maintain high standards. 
  •    Address any issues related to data integrity promptly. 
  •   Develop and manage budgets for trialing programs. 
  •   Optimize resource allocation to maximize program efficiency. 
  •   Monitor expenses and ensure compliance with financial guidelines. 

 

Critical success factors & key challenges 

  •  Prepare detailed reports on trial outcomes and key performance indicators. 
  •  Communicate findings to senior management and stakeholders. 
  •  Monitoring of the Data uploading into digital tools on regular basis with the trialists in their respective geographies.  
  •  Stay updated on the latest advancements in corn cultivation and trialing methodologies. 
  •  Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation. 
  •  Implement best practices to enhance the effectiveness of trialing programs. 
  •  Ensure compliance with local and national regulations governing agricultural trials. 
  •  Collaborate with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals. 
  • Identify potential risks to the success of trialing programs. 
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Actively participate in crisis management if unforeseen challenges arise. 

 

This role requires a strong background in agronomy, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate the complexities of agricultural research and community engagement. 

Qualifications

Critical knowledge& Experience: 

  • Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering /Agronomy/ Plant Breeding/ Plant Science, or related field. 
  • Strong knowledge of corn cultivation, genetics, and agronomic practices. 
  • Experience in designing and conducting field trials. 
  • Experience in Mechanization process in Corn crop 
  • Certified Drone pilot and able to do data capture using drones 
  • - Should have capabilities to bring strong drive and determination in the team/group 
  • Sound knowledge of crops agronomy, pesticides and technical aspects 
  • Proficiency in use of office software and Standard Information Technology tools 
  • Extensive knowledge of Agricultural Statistics and statistical software  
  • Effective stake holder’s management with Sales, Marketing, and Seeds Development 
  • Proactive and good foresight and good stakeholder management
