Customs Specialist (1.0 FTE)

As our Customs Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to customs regulations, optimizing processes, and fostering effective relationships with stakeholders. The challenge 

  • As the Customs Specialist, you'll oversee all aspects of customs compliance and import/export operations, ensuring smooth sailing through the complex seas of international trade, including classification, valuation, documentation, licensing, and customs clearance processes.
  • From managing import/export activities to determining tariff classifications, you'll be the expert guiding our organization through customs regulations.
  • But your role goes beyond paperwork – you'll establish and maintain relationships with customs authorities and other stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation.
  • By developing and implementing trade compliance programs and policies, you'll minimize risks and maximize efficiency in our international trade operations. And when challenges arise, you'll be ready to lead customs audits, coordinate responses, and implement corrective actions.
  • With your keen eye for detail and strategic mindset, you'll proactively propose efficiency benefits and innovative projects that contribute to our overall logistics and customs strategy.

Qualifications

Your profile 

  • To excel in this role, you'll need a Bachelor's degree in international trade, supply chain management, or a related field, with extensive knowledge of customs regulations and import/export laws.
  • Advanced certification in inbound logistics is strongly preferred, along with proven experience in customs compliance and import/export operations, ideally in a managerial role.
  • Your understanding of tariff classification, valuation, and customs documentation requirements will be invaluable, as will your familiarity with trade compliance programs and risk assessment methodologies.
  • With excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, you're ready to navigate the complexities of international trade.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders, while your attention to detail and ability to work under pressure will ensure timely compliance with deadlines.
  • Proficiency in customs software, trade management systems, and Microsoft Office applications is essential, as is a command of the English and Dutch language.
  • You are currently living in The Netherlands.
