    Job Description

    Role purpose:

    • Work towards mechanization, precision agriculture technologies and field innovative technologies to drive efficiencies in hybrid seed production and production trial research.
    • Implement technologies locally and make local adjustments. Role should understand India seed production farmer pain points and build a solution by de-bottlenecking for existing machinery; should be able to develop things in-house if needed.
    • Develop strategic local / regional partnerships.
    • Drive innovation pipeline and expand new ideas fit for country.
    • Work in collaboration with SPR and Seed Production team within India and Outside India

    Accountabilities:

    • Drive regional decisions within field mechanization, precision agriculture and new technologies.
    • Be an operative interface for internal (SPR, Seed Production, R&D, Procurement and HSE) and external stakeholders and service-providers (e.g., equipment or machine manufacturers / suppliers)  to successfully develop complete farm mechanization solutions for hybrid seed production growers.
    • When working with 3rd parties / external collaborations / engineering professionals, should be involved in requirement engineering, concept development, prototype development etc.
    • Collaborating with production team to ensure that machinery aligns with field level practices.
    • Validate products (existing and new machinery or equipment); Lead to conduct research trials for machine evaluation through coordination of SPR Agronomists and Field Production team
    • Implement testing programs across multiple sites and collects all information as per the guidelines.
    • Keep current on emerging trends, tools, and technologies coming internally and externally.
    • Develop partnerships with R&D, Seed Ops, and external companies to explore further ideas.
    • Drive new idea portfolio in collaboration with regional / global Innovation team.

    • Manage internal and external stakeholders and communication plan.
    • Should ensure to launch / implement technology that meets HSES compliance in equipment / designs and operations.
    • Ensures all action plans implemented in trial sites towards germplasm security

      Qualifications

      Knowledge, experience & capabilities:

      Critical knowledge:

      • Engineering University degree in Agricultural engineering / Mechanical engineering
      • Familiarity with agricultural tools, equipment, and machinery, Knowledge of precision agriculture
      • Proficient Knowledge of Seed Production Practices and knowledge of Seed business
      • Self-motivated and striving for continuous improvement.
      • Advanced English language in both written and oral way

      Critical experience:

      • 3 to 5 years’ experience in Farm-Engineering sector
      • Project management skills; Demonstrated success in Team environment.

      Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

      • Project planning and execution
      • Ability to apply inquisitive, analytical thinking to problem-solving scenarios.
      • Ability to catalyze transformation and change in the organization.
      • Sound analytical and problem solving/solid IT skills.
      • Able to be “hands-on” but with the ability to direct and supervise, as needed.
      • Development mind-set: challenge existing ways of working; improve established technology; identify weak points of technology and suggest / implement improvements.
