Job Description
Role purpose
- Lead formulation technicians to provide engineering technical support utilizing both existing and novel manufacturing technologies to maximize quality, capacity, and efficiency metrics during scale-up and after the launch, of formulated products.
- Assist the formulation engineers by staging equipment & raw materials and executing pilot plant formulation trials.
Accountabilities
- Strict adherence to HSE protocols and all corporate policies and processes.
- Provide leadership and overall expertise to pilot plant activities.
- Collaboratively schedules and executes formulation processing experiments.
- Document experiments and results, develop reports, and propose follow-up actions to engineers.
- Maintain procedures, equipment, and facilities in the pilot plant.
- Ensure assistance to the formulation engineers to safely deliver the scale-up of formulation processes from lab to full-scale manufacturing.
- Be highly knowledgeable with the required formulation engineering techniques and equipment through on-the-job training and internal courses where appropriate.
- Proactively proposes and implements improvements to group operations i.e., safety, efficiency, and productivity initiatives. May be a functional representative on a departmental operations team.
- Ability to maximize productivity and meet targets and deadlines.
- Adaptable to changes in project deliverables and embraces new ways of working.
- Contributes to identifying and implementing department needs to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Able to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and across multiple functions.
- Actively engages in project team discussions to share knowledge.
Skills
- Requires developed proficiency through detailed/intense job-related training and/or considerable on-the-job experience.
- Should be well organized and have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to progress multiple project tasks.
- Ability to lead and apply technical knowledge to progress activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, or proven technical experience in formulation processing development or formulation manufacturing.
- Must be able to become forklift certified.
- Adherence to continuous improvement principles and process risk assessments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple requests from different stakeholders.
- Good understanding of the end-to-end processes for product development, complex formulation processing scale-up, and lifecycle management.
