Job Description

This role will provide support to the Trait Evaluation (TE) Study Director’s or other TE personnel as needed.  This includes supporting trialing writing efforts, as well as assisting the Study Director’s targeted goals for precision, accuracy and efficiency to obtain the highest quality data delivered in the designated timeframe.
Accountabilities

  • Function as an integral member of TE responsible for the full range of seasonal activities related to conducting yield and nursery trials in supporting Project demands.
  • Assist in TE activities of inventory management, seed processing, SPIRIT trial writing, SPIRIT and Mint downloads and other as needed.
  • This role will primarily be computer focused however, will also assist in field activities including note taking and hand harvest as needed.  If down time arises, this role will may assist other teams on site.
  • Support all safety and stewardship related company policies and practices, including completing all required training courses.
  • Complete work with a limited degree of supervision and/or work autonomously
  • Effectively communicating regularly with peers and supervisors regarding the status of projects and work activities.
  • Responsible for initiating USDA permit applications. 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required B.S. Degree in an agricultural related discipline, preferred. Candidates with  relevant agriculture experience will be considered.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours as needed.
  • Clear understanding of the practices and procedures that affect trial data precision and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Familiarity with seed technology industry a plus.
  • Capable of standing and sitting for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work independently and may travel to off-site locations to accurately collect and manage data obtained from trials or attend other TE functions.
  • Coordinate and manage workload to complete objectives and tasks.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and an unrelenting commitment to quality.
  • Ability to use MS Office, especially Word and Excel, and other standard software.
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies.

Preferred Requirements

  • Ability to learn and use proprietary systems and inventory management.
  • Capable of working in high or low temperature conditions in field.  Capable of working long hours during time-critical periods of the growing season and during travel.
  • Field, office.  Domestic and international travel required with occasional overnight stays.
  • Seasonal travel to off-station testing locations and project meetings.
