Job Description

As Team Leader Seedcare Research Biology you will lead of team of Research Scientists with different scientific backgrounds and educational levels. You are going to be responsible for People Management and Development, Quality Management, Operational Excellence as well as to develop and maintain technical expertise within your team. Together with the team, you will thrive to improve productivity with your digital mindset and the adaptation/ introduction of new technologies. 

Your responsibilities:

  • You are managing and developing a team of Research Scientists 
  • Combines internal and external knowledge to maximize operational efficiency. May use project management and operational excellence tools to optimize resource efficiency.  
  • End to end Quality Management: Ensure and maintain optimal (input vs output) scientific quality and standards in experimentation, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Actively adopts and introduces digital workflows and technologies in own areas 
  • Build an expert team with Team Leaders of other groups to ensure alignment of standards and benchmarks in operational and people areas.
  • Ensures resource allocation in line with the agreed plan and manages deviations and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure an up-to-date scientific infrastructure and operations in CP Research Biology
  • Lead and manage operational projects. Lead internal and may lead external projects.
  • Ensure compliance of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) to Syngenta standards.

Qualifications

What are we looking for:

  • A degree or apprenticeship in Biology or other life science areas or equivalent practical experience
  • Industrial Experience in the field of Biology or other life science areas
  • Ability to constructively collaborate with Group Lead, peers, and research scientists in their own area
  • Ability to communicate inspirationally but honestly within group/team/project. Promote a culture of transparency and open feedback
  • Basic expertise in Crop protection research
  • Openness to change and flexibility to adapt to it digital and technology savvy and future-facing attitude
  • Fluent English; written and spoken any other languages is an asset
