To support that challenge, the Flowers R&D site is currently seeking a Maintenance Lead in Gilroy, CA. As the Lead Maintenance Technician you will be accountable for executing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program and overall site appearance.
You will help shape the future of agriculture by:

  • Being responsible for over-seeing repair, installation, and maintenance of all site equipment.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of site equipment to ensure it stays in an operational status to reduce and eliminate unplanned downtime
  • Be a key stakeholder in the site’s “Goal Zero” safety initiative.

Accountabilities 

  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedule of company equipment including electrical, mechanical, control devices, instrumentation for assigned site 
  • Assist with coordinating equipment downtime to perform necessary repairs and maintenance in conjunction with site leadership team
  • Ensure equipment inspections are being documented and completed as required during on/off peak seasons
  • Responsible of scheduling jobs/work to ensure prioritization and work completion  
  • Escalate equipment issues in a timely manner and inform operations as required
  • Establish and maintain relations with preferred vendors and contractors, such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing contractors  
  • Conduct outside contactor orientation when contractor work is required 
  • Responsible for site specific permits when maintenance work is required in key areas (hot work, work from heights)
  • Coordinate site grounds program (lawn care, irrigation) in conjunction with site leadership team 
  • Work with local site personnel and regional engineering to ensure optimal operations of machinery and automation equipment by completing preventive and corrective maintenance requirements; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Develop a comprehensive reporting system to ensure PM data is collected and utilized to drive understanding of useful life of equipment 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical program certification
  • Minimum 3 years industrial maintenance experience 
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills  
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

  • Physical demands of the essential functions:
  • Ability to work during the days and occasional evenings/weekends during peak season.
  • Must have valid, good standing driver license.
  • Ability to work in the greenhouse and be on feet for long periods of time. 
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required for operations in greenhouse or the field.
