Job Description

Purpose:

  • Maximize the short and long-term value of new and existing Active Ingredients (AIs) through excellence in Product/Portfolio Life Cycle Management.
  • Develop and implement trait strategy and tactics, aligned across Syngenta Seeds and Crop Protection
  • Lead herbicide resistance management in the product management team, across crops and geographies

Accountabilities:

  • Lead global Active Ingredient Management (AIM) teams of functional and technical experts to set direction, recommend improvements to the portfolio and solve unique and complex portfolio challenges.
  • Represent Crop Protection with respect to herbicide-tolerant Seeds and Traits, responsible to develop and implement aligned strategies and tactics for projects where Crop Protection and Seeds overlap.
  • Lead integrated weed management across crops and geographies and develop robust resistance management strategies.
  • Develop business cases for portfolio related investments and gain approval through the relevant governing bodies (CPPT, DeCo)
  • Prepare robust 5-year plans, aligned with the regions, including risks and opportunities
  • Support Global 3rd Party Relations manager and regional 3rd party teams to develop successful in and out-licensing strategies to fill portfolio gaps and/or improve sales
  • Develop branding and brand plans for all strategic products in portfolio, refreshing as needed, in conjunction with global branding managers
  • Prepare global product launch kits and events and support product launches in key countries
  • Share best-practice examples and learning across the regions

Qualifications

  • Commercial and customer facing experience at country level
  • Agronomic expertise and Herbicide expertise
  • Seeds and GM traits portfolio or pipeline management experience
  • Management of complex, multi-year projects
  • Advanced knowledge of pesticides, seeds and traits, crops, growers and competitors
  • Strong Marketing acumen: expertise in branding, pricing, positioning, market research, plus basics of channel management
  • Proven strategic thinking:  highly analytical, ability to model scenarios, prepare competitive/game changing plans
  • Good business acumen: understanding of P&L, NPV, working capital, investment planning, business cases
  • Basic understanding of R&D stage gate development process and functional milestones
