Job Description

Purpose:

  • The scope of this role includes Syngenta owned, Site owned and the network of warehouses external to Syngenta sites which are owned and operated by 3rd Party Logistics Providers.  
  • Define & own global layout and process design policies, procedures, KPIs, software and technical specifications to improve safety and efficiencies that enable operational excellence, standardization, and cost leadership, which is scalable to all warehouse operations, internally & externally.
  • A key part of the role is building centralized warehouse playbook and digital twin that will guide our warehouse management teams around the world in understanding and preparing the warehouse transformation strategies
  • Critical to this role is the drive for a professional and compliant storage and handling of dangerous materials to assure safety and compliance operations to meet Syngenta HSE standards and mandatory legal regulations.  
  • CP products are predominantly composed of Dangerous Goods that call for specific warehousing and handling conditions as defined by International, Regional and or Local Legislation.

Accountabilities:

 

  • Combine warehousing process expertise and thought leadership with ERP system knowledge (SAP S4 HANA) to lead the global warehousing function
  • Serve as a steward of the global warehouse playbook ensuring that warehousing processes and tools remain consistent as they are deployed to all regions.
  • Establish training documentation and programs, working with warehousing subject matter experts, to ensure successful deployments and ongoing organizational capability.
  • Lead and coordinate warehousing subject matter experts to construct, transform, and cleanse master data to align with standards established in the global playbook.
  • Lead change management across the global warehousing network identifying change impacts, developing mitigation plans, and executing change mitigation plans to ensure all warehouses are prepared for the digital transformation.
  • Establish managing processes to monitor, govern, and support warehouses that have deployed the global playbook to ensure process consistency and to continuously improve the global playbook delivering identified project opportunities.
  • Develop warehouse strategy and Digital Twin to align with the Logistics of the Future roadmap.
  • Carry out risk assessment linked to location and standard of operation in order that appropriate mitigation can be considered.
  • Ensure a fit for purpose Auditing process with a corrective action tracking is implemented in collaboration with HSSE.
  • Maintain capabilities, knowledge and data relating DGSA and IATA specialists globally.
  • Assist and advise the organizations and those accountable for managing warehouses on correct dangerous goods labelling and including airfreight shipments.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

 

Qualifications

  • Expert in understanding rules and regulations relating to storage and handling of dangerous good
  • Strong ability to find and extract relevant regulations, interpret, and communicate to the organisation leveraging a network of experts
  • Five to ten years of experience in logistics operations with sound knowledge of distribution safety and storage safety
  • You have good working knowledge of supply chain network design and optimization software
  • Ability to work in a challenging and busy environment
  • IATA DG trained in order to support Airfreight labelling requirements in warehouses
  • Knowledge of product hazards: ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labels, Transport (Hazard Symbols).  Storing chemicals hazards likely to encounter flammable, combustible, toxic, corrosive, reactive and/or oxidising agents.
  • Expertise in Segregation of incompatible hazards, fire prevention, sensitivity/reactivity to water, in addition to volumes of products stored and the compatibility with fire protection systems.
