Job Description

Role purpose:

  • By providing operational support to the global social media team, the Social Media Specialist plays contributes to our goals of awareness and reputation building through social media
  • The key areas of support include channel management, monitoring, issue escalation, cybersecurity measures, governance, content planning and trendspotting
  • Fostering exchange & knowledge within the team to increase the impact of the global social media activities is crucial in this role

Accountabilities:

Monitoring & community management tasks:

  • Monitor incoming requests from the global Syngenta social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube). Escalate these requests to the relevant internal teams, source answers from internal stakeholders, answer questions as needed
  • Monitor the [email protected] email inbox and respond to incoming requests
  • Supplement agency community management activities:
  1. by monitoring Syngenta mentions, particularly around specific topics, events and hashtags
  2. escalating these internally
  3. hiding & removing spam / profanity from channels
  4. monitoring rogue channels
  5. Update list of ag influencers and topic experts on social up-to-date
  • Engage with community if needed (like, share posts)

Cybersecurity and legal tasks:

  • Update social media passwords on a regular basis and keep a list of all passwords according to best practice cybersecurity measures
  • Manage channels and admin rights within Hootsuite (or whichever social media management tool we will use in the future)

Qualifications

Experience required for the job :

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5+ years of overall work experience
  • Social media experience, preferably in a corporate environment (community management, content creation)
  • Demonstrated understanding of social media channel management and trends
  • In-depth knowledge of social media community management in a complex environment
  • Independently plans and executes tasks in the context of goals
  • Decides upon to dos in order to cater to goals
  • Demonstrates initiative by moving projects forward
  • Independently can prepare/present results and other internal documentations or presentations
  • Recognizes ideas
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and to proactively collaborate with the social media team located in other parts of the world
  • Creative, diplomatic, able to influence people and get buy-in
  • Outgoing networker with good communication and facilitation skills
  • Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, with strong project management or organizational skills
