Role Purpose

• To support overall technical coordination for agrochemicals formulation products at Syngenta’s own and tolling sites in India and few other countries within APAC.
• This includes supporting complete technology transfer for new products, by
• on-paper technical assessment and documents preparation,
• HSE evaluation and support
• Coordination with related technical and manufacturing/business functions.
• Suggesting changes in manufacturing lines from process and safety point of view.
• Plant trials.
• Process-trouble shootings, supporting selection of related process equipments.
• Also supporting process lead for overall technical coordination with Syngenta sites, tolling sites, Formulation Development Lab, Analytical Lab and External labs as required.
• Supporting Drawings, PFD, P&IDs for existing and new manufacturing lines.
• Supporting defining technical specifications for new Formulation Equipments or safety equipments, by preparing URS and coordinating with potential suppliers.
• Supporting manufacturing sites for FAT/SAT later on.
• Understanding HSE aspects of new and existing products, related equipments and support for any changes/improvements accordingly.
• Understanding overall business requirements and providing technical support.
• Coordination with related stakeholders.
• The profile will also require a considerable travel to Syngenta Formulation Sites, Tolling sites, Syngenta Labs and third-party manufacturing sites, within India and overseas sometimes, as required.

Accountabilities

• Overall technical coordination for Crop Protection Formulation Products (Technology Transfer).
• Providing technical expert inputs to stakeholders.
• Responisble for sitting, supporting trouble shooting of formulation products at Syngenta sites and tolling sites.
• Providing process safety inputs to manufacturing sites.
• Supporting selection of new Equipment related to Formulation manufacturing.
• Supporting overall engineering support to Formulation manufacturing sites (Syngenta’s own sites and Tolling sites) in India and few APAC countries.
• Giving technical guidance and support to third party purchase products.
• Technical coordination with Syngenta Formulation Development, Analytical, Process-safety (PHS) and Formulation-Process Engineering teams.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

• A minimum of a Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent  having at least 5-years of experience in Crop Protection A.I. or Formulations manufacturing or Technology/ R&D department.
• Or a minimum of a Master degree in Chemistry or Agro-Chemicals with strong experience of working (of at least 5 years) in Agro-chemical A.I. or Formulation manufacturing or Technology/ R&D department.
• Basic understanding of Agro-chemicals/Pesticides and Formulations.
• Basic knowledge and experience of Formulation Process Equipments like Air Jet Mill, Bead-Mills, FBD, Extruders, Mixing Technologies etc.
• Good knowledge of making Drawings, PFD, P&Ids.
• Basic knowledge of Agrochemicals/ Chemical Toxicity and safety.
• Basic understanding of process safety like Fire and Explosion hazards and their mitigation aspects.
• Knowledge of computerized data acquisition and analysis systems.
• A couple of years of working with crop-protection chemicals at lab scale would be an added advantage.
• Must have desire to learn new things and dealig with differnt stakeholder.
• Need flexibiltiy to work according to business needs and flexibility.

Posting, Travelling requirements and other skills

• This post will be based in Goa at Syngenta Bioscience Pvt Ltd.
• Thus relocation to Goa would be a must.
• The person will also be required to travel to Syngenta manufacturing sites, tolling sites and third party manufacturing sites as required.
• Person might also need to travel to Syngenta labs for technical coordination as required.
• Person might also have to travel overseas (mainly APAC countries) based on business needs.
• Peson should have good communication skills to enable successful sharing of knowledge, data and results across a multi-disciplinary team with diverse background. Verbal and well as digital communication skills are key to this individual.
• The person should be a team player
