Job Description

The Industrial Operations Engineer BOT Production (IOEB) will be responsible to support engineering projects focused on the improving Symbotic’s high volume BOT production. BOT production is focused on detailed analysis of process, cost, people, and materials as related to volume production of the Symbot product. The IOEB will help to manage the production resources, costs, and schedule from detailed analysis to identification of improvement areas, and into implementation of those improvement areas. The IOEB will be responsible for reporting analysis results, development of business and financial outcomes resulting from improvement identification, as well as, reporting on schedule progress through implementation.

The IOEB should be capable high-level understanding of problems, able to determine detailed action plans to address objectives and independent motivation to drive actions to closure. The ideal IOEB should exhibit strong team skills to include cross-functional teamwork and help with the direction of cross-functional teams through influence. Experience working in high performing teams through rigorous work environments with a history of driving projects and improvement actions to completion is a must. The candidate shall have a history of complex problem analysis, root cause corrective action, lean methodology, industrial process identification and control. This job requires experience in high volume electro-mechanical and robotics manufacturing, supplier management, defect reduction and reliability improvement, facility management, quality assurance, safety regulation and ability to quickly develop relationships across multiple teams to understand production issues.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for identification of production implementation improvement efforts (cost, schedule, quality, productivity, throughput)
  • Expert owner of detailed industrial line studies, process control and production improvements
  • Central team member helping to scale factory throughput
  • Manage multiple tasks based on development from conception through completion in accordance with program objectives
  • Manages schedules, procedures, and controls for assigned projects
  • Conduct project completion analysis and present to internal leadership team
  • Lead daily and weekly standup meetings to cover progress
  • Review’s status and monitors variances of improvement relative to throughput, scheduling, and cost control reporting
  • Utilizes excellent communication skills to provide regular projects updates to internal and external customers and their representatives
  • Develop white paper reports to capture production implementation improvement initiatives
  • Expect 10% domestic travel

Qualifications

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university and at least >5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial or systems engineering, lean manufacturing, and/or operations management
  • Experience in moderate to high volume of complex electro-mechanical devices and robotics preferred
  • Experience managing multiple tasks on medium to large projects
  • Experience with driving project tasking to maintain schedule
  • Experience managing multiple efforts simultaneously

·       Experience working in teams and ability to build rapport quickly across multiple functions

  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing efforts across broad and external stakeholders

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to schedule complex work with dependencies and to drive production
  • Track record of exceeding deliverables while remaining on time and within budget
  • Experience with Operational Risk Management or other risk mitigation methods preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under pressure
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management
  • Professional, detail oriented, methodical, and organized
  • Proficient with the MS Office, SolidWorks, ERP and SQL systems
  • Green or Black Belt Lean/Six Sigma qualification ideal
