Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Connect division in Sydney. This person will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining and supporting our next generation platforms. This is a full stack, hands-on role that will be developing new features for our customers which meet the needs of our business.

Reporting to Lead Software Engineer, the Senior Software Engineer will be involved in building with best practices and resiliency in mind, adhering to agile processes and dealing with business and technology stakeholders.

What you'll do as a Senior Software Engineer:

  • Problem Solving: Enact as an individual contributor to tackle complex technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and provide effective solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality software.
  • Architecture and Design: Design and implement scalable, high-performance, and secure software solutions.
  • Project Management: Lead or contribute to planning, estimation, and execution of software development projects. Ensure that projects adhere to project deadlines whilst considering agile design practices.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide project updates.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in processes, tools, and technologies to increase development efficiency.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay updated with emerging technologies and apply them to solve business problems.
  • Code Review and Best Practices: Ensure adherence to coding standards, conduct code reviews, and encourage best practices within the team.
  • Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor junior developers, providing technical direction and leadership on projects.

Qualifications

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering
  • Strong Java/Golang and microservice experience
  • Exposure to large scale distributed systems
  • Knowledge of high throughput Microservice based architectures
  • Experience with AWS (or other cloud technologies) and cost implications of cloud tech choices
  • Experience with  ReactJS and/or GraphQL is a plus.
