Job Description

We are looking for a Java Software Engineer to join the team in Sydney.  This varied role will see you designing, building and maintaining Symbio's fraud detection, finance analytics and customer analytics systems. Our customers rely on our platforms to analyse, detect and block fraudulent activity across our telecommunication network and reduce the financial impact it can have on them.  

In this is a full-stack, hands-on role you will develop new features for our customers which meet the needs of our business, always with best practices and resiliency in mind.  

What you'll do as a Software Engineer:

  • Use Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavioural Driven Development (BDD), and Domain Driven Design (DDD) to maintain and enhance our systems
  • Get involved in the full software design life cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support
  • Build out new functionality to help us scale our platforms globally
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews
  • Work in an agile environment, always with engineering best practices in mind
  • Regularly deploy using Docker, Kubernetes and AWS
  • Provide after hours support on a rotating roster 

Qualifications

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Good commercial hands-on experience in Java 8 or above (ideally around 3 - 5 years)
  • A good grasp of Angular and/or React 
  • A driven attitude and desire for continual learning 

Bonus points for nice to have skills:

  • Knowledge of AWS or other cloud technologies
  • Experience in Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)  
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
