We want to see a world in which everyone has access to equitable, trustworthy, and accurate information. We support and advance impact-focused journalism by fostering new, forward-looking concepts and identifying sustainable financial models for journalism. We are creating a healthier, more sustainable media ecosystem for better informed global audiences who are empowered to take action for the benefit of all people, communities and the planet.
Job Description
We are looking for an Ecosystem Development Manager, a critical role in driving our global journalism initiative forward and turning our internal strategies into external action.
Within a growing team of creative and development professionals, this role is a facilitator and connector, responsible for building, organising and marshalling a network of collaborative and collaborating organisations around the world poised to share our mission and deliver impact.
Public broadcasters, media houses, influential organisations and news agencies: you will be the gravity that draws them into the orbit of the work we are doing to make climate a relatable part of news outputs and conversations around the world.
This is a role for an adaptable candidate who excels at shaping, building and managing partnerships, facilitating communication, and identifying opportunities for mutual benefit within the ecosystem. Key measures of success would include growth, successful collaborations, cohort building and ultimately impact in changing the way climate stories are told around the world.
The position is for an immediate start and is a hybrid role, primarily working remotely but with in-person meetings in both London and Guildford in Surrey, so you must be within commutable distance to these locations. In-person meetings may be up to 6-8 times a month.
You must already have the right to work in the UK. You will need to ensure you have access to a suitable professional and confidential environment with a reliable internet connection to carry out your duties.
The position is part time, three days a week. This role could be worked as defined days or defined hours spread across Syli’s core working days of Monday to Friday.
This is a fixed term contract ending 31st August 2026. However, pending securing the required funding, there will likely be the opportunity to extend the contract after the first term.
The pay for this role is £30,000 (£50,000 FTE) per year.
- Relationship Building: Establishing and nurturing connections with key players in the ecosystem, across a range of media and institutions whose purpose is the communication of climate information to the public.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identifying and developing strategic alliances or cohorts that can drive growth and innovation within the ecosystem.
- Community Engagement: Organizing events, workshops, and other activities to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among ecosystem members.
- Opportunity Identification: Recognizing and capitalizing on potential collaboration and strategic opportunities for Syli and its partners within the ecosystem.
- Communication and Advocacy: Promoting Syli’s vision and values and advocating for its interests across a variety of territories and
