Job Description

About the role

We are seeking an Operations Assurance Specialist to join Sydney Airport on a 24-month maximum-term contract. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Continuity, this role plays an important part in helping ensure the airport remains safe, prepared and resilient by supporting operational assurance, emergency preparedness and readiness activities across the business.

Working across a diverse stakeholder network including operations, safety, facilities management, emergency services, airlines and contractors, you will help drive emergency planning, training, exercises, assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen operational readiness and resilience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would enjoy collaborating with stakeholders, coordinating practical preparedness activities and contributing to the safe and reliable operation of one of Australia's most complex environments.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Develop, maintain and review emergency plans, evacuation procedures and response documentation aligned with relevant standards and airport requirements.
  • Coordinate evacuation exercises, emergency drills, testing programs and follow-up improvement actions.
  • Deliver and support Fire Warden and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) training programs across the airport.
  • Partner with operational teams, tenants, contractors, airlines and emergency services to strengthen preparedness and operational readiness.
  • Conduct assurance activities, compliance reviews and action tracking to support a strong safety and resilience culture.
  • Identify risks, lessons learned and improvement opportunities, providing practical recommendations that enhance resilience and preparedness outcomes.

About you

  • Experience working in an administrative environment where organisation, attention to detail, and effective communication is required.
  • Ability and interest in developing and maintaining plans, procedures, preparedness programs or operational frameworks.
  • Confidence coordinating training, exercises, stakeholder engagement activities or operational readiness initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Well-developed written communication, reporting and documentation capabilities, coupled with sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to remain effective under pressure and drive continuous improvement outcomes.
