Job Description

About the role

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role that sits at the intersection of safety, operations, systems and continuous improvement. As Systems Adviser, you'll help ensure Sydney Airport's Safety Management System (SMS) remains practical, effective and embedded in day-to-day operations, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working across the business.

Working closely with frontline teams, you'll spend time understanding how work is really performed, analysing issues and operational data to identify whether improvement opportunities relate to systems, processes, controls or ways of working.

You will play an important role in strengthening safety outcomes, supporting operational stakeholders, improving systems and exploring how digital and AI-enabled solutions can streamline activities and improve decision-making.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Partner directly with operational teams to provide practical advice and support on safety management system requirements, risk management and governance processes.
  • Analyse safety information, incident trends and operational data to identify risks, opportunities for improvement and areas where systems, processes or controls can be strengthened.
  • Support the development, review and continuous improvement of SOPs, procedures and other safety management system documentation to ensure they remain practical and fit for purpose.
  • Conduct audits, inspections and assurance activities, and help drive the timely closure of corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and improve safety information systems, SharePoint sites, governance registers and workflows that support effective information management across the business.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the use of automation and AI-enabled tools, to enhance reporting, insights and operational effectiveness.

About you

  • Experience working within safety, risk, compliance, assurance, governance or a related operational environment.
  • Naturally curious, with the ability to investigate and analyse issues, identify contributing factors and translate findings into practical improvements to systems, processes and controls.
  • Comfortable building relationships and working directly with frontline stakeholders to understand challenges and influence positive outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data and insights into practical recommendations.
  • Experience supporting or administering management systems, document control processes, SharePoint environments or similar business systems.
  • Exposure to Safety Management Systems (SMS) or regulated operational environments is highly regarded. A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline is desirable but is not essential.
  • Working knowledge of safety management systems, risk, assurance or regulatory requirements within a complex operational environment.
