Job Description
About the role
Join the team that keeps Australia’s gateway airport operating safely and efficiently. As an Electrical Technician at Sydney Airport, you’ll play a critical role maintaining and improving the electrical infrastructure that supports millions of passengers, airlines and airport partners every year. Working across a dynamic and complex environment, no two days are the same.
In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the airport precinct. From terminal facilities to operational assets, you’ll help ensure critical infrastructure remains safe, reliable and available around the clock, while building your career in one of Australia’s most unique and iconic workplaces.
In this role you will have the opportunity to
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment according to relevant codes and regulations
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to ensure proper installation and maintenance
- Perform routine inspections and testing of electrical systems to identify and troubleshoot issues
- Utilize electrical testing equipment and tools to diagnose and resolve faults
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures when working with electrical systems
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed
- Collaborate with other technicians and professionals to coordinate electrical projects and tasks
- Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, working either day shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or night shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, including weekends as required to support airport operations
- Cover for leave or other absences, you will work a standard 4-day schedule (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM) to assist with general maintenance, preventative works, and project support across the airport
About you
- Proven knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and safety awareness
- Relevant experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in electrical technology, or a relevant diploma or certificate
- Electrician's license or certification may be required
- Familiarity with local electrical codes and regulations
