About the team
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Aviation Development to join our Aviation Development team. The Aviation Development Team drives SYD's strategic air service development to meet future passenger demand and ensure sustainable growth. They collaborate with stakeholders to expand existing routes and attract new airlines, manage airline route business cases and growth incentives, and develop key programs to achieve Sydney Airport's strategic growth goals.
About the role
Supporting the Senior Manager, Aviation Development, you will be responsible for growing Sydney Airport’s international seat capacity on new and currently unserved or underserved routes. You will use business case tools and data analysis to develop traffic and revenue forecasts, prepare business cases, and present them to target airlines. You will apply insights to build and maintain strong cross-cultural relationships with airline partners.
The role requires a high level of market presence and frequent international travel to foster relationships, identify growth opportunities, and support Sydney Airport’s long-term objectives. Additionally, you will contribute to internal reporting for Board and C-suite level papers, assist with the organisation of business development trips, and engage in various airline relationship management tasks to drive sustainable growth and ensure the airport’s continued success.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in aviation, business, finance, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of airport and airline profitability, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics, with leadership experience in airlines, airports, or infrastructure assets.
- With 7+ years in an analytical role, you excel in financial modelling, business case development, and delivering actionable insights. You support strategic initiatives and manage cross-cultural relationships, translating complex data into compelling business cases.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, influencing senior stakeholders, including boards and governance committees. You present complex information clearly and effectively.
- You thrive under pressure, remain composed during tight deadlines and negotiations, and inspire teams with your collaborative style.
- A passion for travel and willingness to travel extensively for business (up to 50%)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word ensures your technical excellence.
- Foreign language skills an advantage especially, SE Asian, Japanese or Korean
