Job Description

We are looking for a passionate, driven and experienced Commercial Director to join us as a key member of Swipii’s leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO.  As part of this role you will define and execute Swipii’s commercial strategy while also leading our Sales, Customer Service and Account Management teams. 

This person will demonstrate a truly proactive customer-centric approach in all they do, driving our teams forward in order to achieve future growth plans while ensuring high-quality continuous performance improvement.  

This is a hands-on role that entails working with our existing and new businesses (our customers), key partners and all other internal teams.

You will be responsible for the following:

Defining and executing Swipii’s commercial strategy.  This will include:

  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies aligned to our company goals aiming to accelerate customer and revenue growth.

  • Conducting market research and analysis to create detailed business plans for future commercial opportunities.

  • Identifying market trends to establish key partnerships that accelerate the growth of Swipii.

  • Understanding the requirements of our current customers to ensure their needs are being met.

  • Collaborating to set financial targets, budgets and monitor performance against them.

Leadership and operational responsibility for the Sales, Customer Service and Account Management functions.  This will include:

  • Inspiring growth and sales across Swipii

    • Drive the company-wide definition of rigorous, sustainable and predictable B2B sales growth.

    • Work closely with other teams such as Product in order to influence the product roadmap, Finance around measurement and forecasting and the Leadership team around key metrics and objectives.

  • Lead a Sales, Customer Service  & Account Management Team

    • Recruit experienced people and attract high potential individual contributors into the team

    • Foster, encourage and reward collaboration within the team and across the company

    • Lead the team to increase business acquisition and product upgrades.

    • Fine-tune and deploy best in class sales techniques and help scale with outsourcers.

  • Launch Swipii in new markets, whilst working closely with the Growth Team on launch and sales campaigns.

  • Measure the effectiveness of the different teams

    • Define and implement metrics for the team and establish systems for tracking metrics.

    • Create cadence for review and driving improvement activity within the teams

    • Ensure that we benchmark against the best businesses in this space. All whilst embedding a culture of quality over quantity.

  • Optimise the sales cycle

    • Map and monitor pipeline, ensure its health and forecast against it.

    • Ensure sustainable growth per team member.

  • Continuous training and improvement of the teams and individuals.

  • Advocate company culture and values

    • Communicate and reinforce the overall company vision internally and with external stakeholders

    • Lead by example to encourage and develop company advocates and contribute positively towards a fun working environment.

Qualifications

Essential requirements:

  • A proven track record of:

    • Defining and executing successful commercial strategies resulting in growth.

    • Identifying market trends to establish key business partnerships, owning these and the commercial success of them.

    • Direct line management of multiple reports and responsibility for their personal development

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to be a creative strategist to support the scaling needs of a high growth startup.

  • A curious mind - always striving for ways to improve and open to continual learning.

  • Enthusiastic and creative leadership skills to attract talent, build teams, and inspire as well as teach others.

  • Self-motivated, self-organising and rigour along with a strong work ethic to lead a team by example daily.

  • A commercially focused individual with demonstrable experience in managing and developing people in a phone sales environment.

  • Obsessive sales growth focus whilst maintaining and promoting excellent customer experience.

  • A record of success leading sales efforts at scale, demonstrated experience of improving sales metrics.

  • Superb analytical skills, having mastered data analysis with Excel/Google Sheets, or equivalent.

  • Strong knowledge of CRMs and support software.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated scaling of teams in a high-growth environment.

  • Experience in using Hubspot, CRM & applications such as Trello & Mixpanel.

  • Past experience in Fintech or more specifically the brick and mortar SME segment (hospitality), card payment or reward industry.
