Sundance is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Buyer in our Home category to identify home furnishing and décor products. Overview

The Buyer is responsible for all facets of product selection, assortment, and building vendor relationships in the home category. Works closely with the Senior Director and the merchandising team to ensure selection and vision meets the high standards of quality and authenticity of the brand as well as item count and margin. Accountable for category performance, quality, uniqueness and price value relationship while adhering to the company’s merchandise process and calendar. Develops business strategies that maximize the development of the brand, sales and gross margin in the home category in our retail division.

Duties

  • Identify a mix of products by season that ensure the Sundance aesthetic is delivered and tells a cohesive product story within our omni-channel business with an emphasis on online and retail only product.
  • Maintain relationships, resolve issues, and conduct negotiations with vendors as necessary (domestic and overseas).
  • Follow a strict assortment plan and operate within the strict guidelines of the merchandising process and calendar.
  • Implement and execute the plan to assure that ultimate performance meets the sales, margin and profitability to space expectations for the home category.
  • Participate in post-mortem meetings and meet with the Senior Director and merchandising team on a regular basis to review in-season and post-mortem sales information. Leverage this information to improve home performance across all channels.
  • Review and validate item copy blocks and artist stories in a timely manner, per the calendar.
  • Responsible for maintaining and/or improving the overall return rate.
  • Acts as a customer advocate for product quality.
  • Plan, schedule and participate in buying trips including trade shows
  • Must be willing and able to travel (approximately 10%)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years buying experience in home décor and home furnishings
  • Previous experience working for a premier home furnishings company preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a group setting
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Global sourcing experience preferred
  • Design background preferred
