From its manufacturing facility, it produces full elevator interiors and components such as wall panels, ceilings, lighting systems and handrails, all using high quality materials. Grown over time as a family owned and operated business with strong ties to the community and its customers it was acquired by a major PE group that is excited to build on the company’s strong legacy as it introduces the business’s products and services to a broader national market.

Job Description

The Assistant General Manager (“AGM”) will be an integral part of the PE group's operations leadership team with the mission to elevate our customers to new levels of success.  The AGM will be responsible for driving manufacturing, engineering, project management, finance, internal sales, safety, quality, production, materials management, and sourcing performance to meet the business needs and goals of the business unit.  Along with managing manufacturing operations, this leader will be responsible for managing and oversight of our vendor relationships, people management which includes staffing and performance management of our teams.

The AGM will interact internally and externally with executive level management across the entire value chain to drive strategy, policy, and decision making. The AGM will look to build and create new capabilities to support business growth while utilizing lean thinking to establish a highest quality, agile and best cost operation. The AGM will partner with the founder and outgoing President over the next two years as he transitions into retirement. During this transition, the AGM will take on increasing responsibility and be expected to advance to the General Manager position in approximately one year upon successfully integrating into the business and showing the capability to be the senior site lead for Vertical Dimensions

  • Responsible for talent management (Attract, Develop and Retain aspects) and succession planning of direct team.

  • Establish clear goals and objectives for the entire team.
  • Ensure we are driving continuous improvement and performance results through our people and culture
  • Improve our customer’s experience by reducing lead times, improving first off quality, focusing on customer service and addressing root cause of issues and complaints leading to permanent resolution.
  • Seek to reduce our customer’s “All in Cost” associated with the products and services we provide.
  • Establish strategies with the Business Unit President with a forward-thinking approach for 2-year planning and present such strategies for success. Provide direction, set goals, and develop processes and implement accordingly.
  • Identify and prioritize problems (or unexpected results) and drive them to resolution.
  • Ensures appropriate process controls to achieve targeted shipping and fulfillment.
  • Prioritize production schedules based on product introduction, sales forecast, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Implement a metric-based system to monitor operations, validating initiatives in efficiency, productivity, profitability, margin improvement and growth.
  • The Operations Manager should work closely with cross functional teams (Project Management, Finance, Engineering, Sales, Strategic Procurement, Information Technology, and Research and Development Departments) to establish and implement internal and external processes and practices to meet and exceed all internal and external requirements.
  • Accountable to ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness.
  • Direct the development and implementation of activities to reduce direct manufacturing costs, including but not limited to direct and indirect labor, product materials and both variable and fixed costs through improvements in workflow, reducing waste, reducing bottlenecks, improving material utilization, improving internal project due dates to assure the meeting of customer needs in all operational areas of the Company.
  • Reduce aggregate inventories (including inventories of materials, work in-progress, and finished goods) by meeting or exceeding inventory goals.
  • Establish and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and overall margins. This includes overseeing equipment and capital improvements.
