Our client is an expanding independent elevator company that focuses on delivering what they are contractually obligated to do and provide high levels of customer service.  They are expanding operations into Ft. Lauderdale and looking for a hands on operations leader that wants to make a difference in an organization and fully participate in its success.  This organization is very flat and counts on the high quality people it hires to make decisions, execute, and drive safety, growth and profitabliity at a local level.  This is not a place where you have multiple people telling you what to do on a daily basis.  You have a team where you will work together, wear a lot of hats, and get the job done while having some fun along the way growing the businses!

 

 

 

 

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for working individually, and as a team, in driving positive results through a variety of activities, including those below:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to unionized elevator mechanics on a daily basis so that they are clear on their work objectives and are able to deliver high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Efficiently monitor technician workloads and schedule tasks accordingly to provide preventative maintenance services on various types of elevator/escalator equipment
  • Regularly train employees on the company’s safety policy and frequently conduct on-site safety surveys to determine compliance and understanding of requirements. Discipline those that are unable to conform to the requirements.
  • Work closely with the sales staff on helping determine appropriate costs required for various maintenance contracts and repairs. Manage technician work so that financial objectives are met based on the hours provided in estimates.
  • Maintain strong levels of consistent communications with customers to provide them with a level of comfort that you have their needs handled and will execute on getting the job done.
  • Manage field employees per the standard agreement between the company and union.Resolve issues that may arise with efficiency and speed to not obstruct the progress of work.
  • Review payroll/time tickets for accuracy, billing opportunities and maintenance of vacation schedules.
  • Effectively manage parts procurement, deliveries and cost to meet financial objectives.

While the below are not mandatory, these qualifications are great to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
  • Experience managing an organized labor force (bonus for elevator mechanics)
  • Familiarity and comfort level with Microsoft products, SAP and other technologies
