Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our contract review and regulatory compliance activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the company's executive team and ensuring that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Director of Legal and Regulatory Compliance will manage legal and compliance support staff, coordinate legal strategy, and oversee the company's legal affairs.
Qualifications
Role Summary:
- Draft or review customer and supplier contracts to ensure any deviations from Summit standard Terms and Conditions are warranted by the business opportunity.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations including business entity registrations, secretary of state filings, antitrust laws, and employment laws.
- Manage and coordinate outside counsel and legal vendors.
- Supervise and mentor the team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as accounting and human resources, to ensure legal compliance.
- Advise on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 10 years of corporate law experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate law, including contract law and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement legal strategy that supports business objectives.
- Strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in distribution industry, particularly with electrical supply distributors.
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
Physical Challenges:
- Some travel to Summit locations and customer offices may be required.
