Job Description

Summit Electric Supply is looking for a driven, goal oriented and proven leader to continue a career in the electrical distribution industry in counter sales. This talented, high-potential associate will ensure uncompromising integrity, respect for others, continuous improvement, and demonstrate exceptional service to our customers at all times. The Counter Supervisor is responsible for all leading the counter sales team and all counter functions including storeroom and will-call pickup. Ensure customers receive excellent customer service and are informed of new product and service offerings. Work alongside the Operations Manager on personnel issues including, hiring, promoting, training, corrective actions, and terminations. 

  

As a Counter Supevisor, you will be expected to:

  • Works with customers, over the phone and in person, to fulfill orders (fill tickets) and offer assistance on products.  
  • Refills inventory with additional stock as necessary to insure highest level of customer satisfaction and choice.    
  • Assists customer service representatives as well as warehouse associates at times when additional assistance is needed to meet customer demand.    
  • Understands product capabilities, warranties, product usages and challenges, to further educate and serve external customer.    
  • Conduct formal and informal reviews with Counter Associates. 
  • Train, mentor, and coach Counter Associates.  
  • Ensures counter area and other areas of store are neat, clean and well stocked at all times, including the restrooms.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and as necessary depending on the location.

Qualifications

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Proven track record as a Counter Associate with Summit or similar electrical distributor. 
  • Ability to supervise direct and indirect reports. 
  • Current knowledge of industry product and materials.  
  • Strong customer service orientation – both external and internal. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written. 
  • Unwavering commitment to Summit values and mission. 
  • Time management – strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Flexibility – ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, hectic work environment. 
  • Proven do “whatever it takes” attitude and approach to life and work.  
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, hectic environment. 
  • Must possess selfless team player approach.  
  • Must be able to perform most warehouse tasks and work with warehouse equipment, including wire cuts.  
  • High school diploma or GED.  

 

Beneficial Skills and Experience to be successful:

  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance 
  • Completed EPEC series and other Summit trainings 
  • Familiarity with SAP or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs.  

 

Physical Challenges:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs on a regular and consistent basis 
  • Ability to operate standard warehouse equipment  
  • Ability to climb stairs 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
