Job Description

Continue your career in accounting by stepping up into a role that will allow you to have an impact on every aspect of Summit's financial accounting.  The Senior Accountant will ensure that timely and accurate financial information is provided to Summit leaders to assist in making critical, informed operating decisions. The Senior Accountant will be challenged to develop and modify operating procedures and reporting enhancements. The Senior Accountant will assist the Assistant Controller in fostering an environment of progressive growth through identification and implementation of best practices in general ledger and financial reporting.

Role Summary

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of cash disbursements and analyses.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Complete timely and accurate preparation of tax filing such as 1099, Property Tax, etc.
  • Set a monthly workflow calendar to be published to team leaders and manage the reporting and work process to meet deadlines as published.
  • Review monthly reports in detail, researching items as needed, to ensure all reports are correct and unusual items are adequately explained.
  • Work closely with Service Center Leaders to answer any questions that relate to Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reports.
  • Work closely with IT, Credit/Cash Applications, GL Group to ensure systems feeding the general ledger are maintained and result in the recording of accurate financial information.
  • Support the Assistant Controller and Controller in the preparation of schedules and data needed for the monthly close and annual audits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • 2-4 years private accounting experience, 1-2 years public accounting experience, or a combination
  • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Well rounded knowledge of accounting principles and concepts.
  • Effective communicator – both verbally and in written form.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Adaptability to different tasks and environments rapidly.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and report writing software.
  • Strong ability to manage different projects and priorities simultaneously and adapt quickly as priorities change.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills including working knowledge of pivot tables and formulas.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Previous successful experience in SAP is preferred.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of cash management, reconciliations, US GAAP, and financial analysis.
