Job Description

Drive Summit’s continued growth in one of our strongest markets, leveraging our sales and support team and building upon Summit’s position by providing the highest levels of service to our customers. We’re looking for a proven leader in the industry with the ability to attract top talent, manage associates to their full potential, and consistently exceed sales and profit goals for existing and new accounts. Successful sales management experience in the electrical industry is a must along with P&L responsibility and extensive knowledge of the industry. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provides direction, coaching and mentoring to the outside sales, project quotations and technical specialists.
  • Responsible for the oversight and leadership of sales associates and partners with the Operations Manager to ensure all customer and associate needs are met.
  • Exhibits exceptional service to external and internal customers.
  • 80% of time spent in customer development and sales related activities.
  • Takes ownership of all elements of the branch to resolve customer concerns as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Oversees hiring, training, disciplining, rewarding, and terminating direct and indirect reports on an as-needed basis.
  • Oversee and create motivational programs to generate additional sales.
  • Communicates effectively and frequently with all direct reports regarding goals, expectations, and other work-related issues.
  • Interfaces with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturer’s representatives on behalf of Summit.
  • Assists Associates in proactively following-up on customer orders, customer challenges, and needs. Responds appropriately dependent upon Summit capabilities and customer desires.
  • Assists outside and inside sales, counter, warehouse associates, or any other associate whenever this would be helpful to the branch and customers.
  • Adopts a “whatever it takes” approach to working at Summit.
  • Continuously seeks out opportunities for improvement and promotes LEAN initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and as necessary depending on Summit location, customer needs, and workflow.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven successful sales leadership experience with an electrical distributor or a similar organization
  • Strong customer service orientation – both external and internal
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Time management – strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Flexibility – ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, hectic work environment
  • Active participation in Summit training

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of EPEC Gold program
  • Sales experience with commercial contractor or industrial customers
  • Significant experience in a variety of roles within the electrical distribution industry
