Job Description

Primarily responsible for aggressively pursuing opportunities among potential and existing EP&C firms and upcoming capital projects by persuasively presenting Summit’s superior service, logistics, and integrated supply capabilities.  Develop strategies and implement tactics to penetrate targeted firms and specific market segments pursuing profitable opportunities both domestically and internationally.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the oversight and leadership of all EP&C sales activities. 
  • Utilizes information on economic developments and trends within the various segments of the EP&C market and our competitors to identify opportunities where Summit’s product lines and services can be leveraged to secure new EP&C customer accounts and projects.
  • Coordinate efforts between Summit’s Service Centers to identify, pursue, and close large EP&C capital projects.
  • Take the necessary action to ensure that Summit is on the approved supplier list.  Work with Operations team in the areas of vendor rebates and pricing negotiations to respond to requests for proposals and prepare competitive bids.  Leads pricing strategy development and pricing reviews for capital projects, and develops bid & proposal estimates. 
  • Develop and sustain sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers within manufacturing community serving the industrial market.
  • Lead and motivate all EP&C associates to ensure that extraordinary customer service is delivered and to maintain Summit service standards.
  • Takes ownership of all elements of the Business Unit to resolve customer concerns as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Communicates effectively and frequently with all direct reports regarding goals, expectations and other work-related issues.
     

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of industrial and EPC sales experience including market strategy, sales management, new customer acquisition, and business development.
  • Effective relationships and results focus approach with internal and external stakeholders resulting in a unique set of solutions best suited to meet client expectations.
  • Apply a high level of business acumen, including an understanding of the customer’s business drivers, industry, economic trends, issues, and competition.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and tactical leadership within a complex domestic and global market.
  • Ability to aggressively capitalize and expand upon Summit’s existing business with EP&C firms and leverage previous success to win new customer capital projects domestically and globally, building a sustained pipeline and demonstrating effectiveness at closing opportunities.
  • Successful experience coordinating and leading team efforts to serve large, complex projects.  Ability to work across multiple business units and effectively utilize Summit’s existing logistics network while simultaneously working with Summit’s operations team to support logistics capabilities outside of Summit’s geography.  
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with customers to market and sell value-added programs services.
  • Understanding of the changing marketplace and ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative.
  • Strong customer service orientation and uncompromising integrity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, executive presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer offices and project sites up to 50% of the time, both domestic and international.

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Thorough knowledge of the full scope of industrial electrical products and their applications.
  • Significant experience in a variety of roles within the electrical distribution industry.
  • Previous successful supervisory experience.
  • Previous successful experience in SAP is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • BS degree in Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or similar field.
  • Completion of Bronze, Silver, and Gold level of EPEC series and other industry training.
