Job Description
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team on a casual basis in Auckland, New Zealand. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our residents and visitors.
- Assist the chef with food preparation tasks, ensuring high-quality standards are met
- Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils, maintaining a hygienic work environment
- Wash dishes and dispose of kitchen waste properly
- Help unload and store incoming food supplies and ingredients
- Follow food safety protocols and adhere to the Food Control Plan requirements
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during meal services
- Support the chef in various kitchen duties as needed
- Contribute to creating a positive dining atmosphere for residents and guests
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with team members and residents
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Keen attention to detail in food preparation and kitchen cleanliness
- Basic food handling knowledge and understanding of food safety practices
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively in a team
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks
- Previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred but not required, and barista or café experience is a bonus.
