Job Description
The Legal Assistant - Corporate / Real Estate supports the day-to-day activities of the supervising lawyer(s). This role is responsible for document preparation and general practice administration including data entry, data management, correspondence, and calendar management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support in the efficient and effective management of the practice including drafting letters/documents, filing, file management, scheduling appointments and meetings, managing deadlines, etc.
- Manage corporate and/or real estate files from beginning to end of transaction.
- Prepare documentation for registrations, incorporations, amalgamations, minute book updates, government filings, etc.
- Prepare transactional documents for purchases, sales, financing, etc.
- Complete closing reports.
- Open and close files.
- Prepare account related documents including docket entries, billing summaries, accounts, etc.
- Facilitate communication between lawyer(s), client and external contacts.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 1 - 3 years' experience in a Corporate or Real Estate support role within a legal environment
- Knowledge of purchase/sale of residential and commercial files
- Experience with corporate law, wills and estates
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of PC Law, Conveyancer and Teraview programs
- Some experience in ordering and receiving title searches is an asset
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in an environment with a variety of functions
- Must have a positive attitude and a willingness to assist others
- Enjoy working in a large team environment
- Detail oriented with strong multi-tasking skills
