The Sturbridge Host Hotel + Conference Center is centrally located in Sturbridge Massachusetts on beautiful Cedar Lake.  We offer 232 guest rooms, with 24 mini suites, 5 suites, along with 35,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Our guests also have access to our 3 on property dining options, The Greenhouse for breakfast, The Oxhead Tavern, with lakeside dining and VIP’s Lounge.  We also offer a variety of catering options for our events and functions, all produced by our dynamic kitchen team.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will be passionate about social event planning and committed to ensuring our property standards are met for all of our catered events.  The catering sales manager will work directly with our culinary team, along with the leadership team to ensure all menus and event set-ups are performed according to guest request. 

What you will be doing

  • Represent the hotel by conducting site visits, negotiating and making proposals, detailing events, and ensuring that each client is executed successfully.
  • Draft and submit the sales and catering contract to client for review, approval and payment, via the catering system (Caterease).
  • Report progress of catering sales to the leadership team as applicable.
  • Actively sells, prepares proposals and client communications, prepares contracts, prepares and distributes BEO, and other hotel-related documentation for catering events of all types.
  • Conducts hotel site tours, meets with clients at the hotel or virtually, when possible, to build relationships and generate business for the hotel.
  • Coordinate with Food and Beverage Department such as the food preparation and banquet room set-ups to ensure they can meet scheduled catering service.
  • Be responsible for soliciting new catering accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts.
  • Achieve catering services by contributing information; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, quality, and customer service standards; identifying and resolving problems, completing post function production reports.

Requirements

  • Candidates will be required to work weekends, to accommodate a client's needs as well as any functions they are overseeing.  Typical work week would be Tuesday through Saturday.  If an event is on a Sunday the work week would be Wednesday through Saturday.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience with social catering events including weddings.

Qualifications

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong background in Catering Sales 
  • Understanding/Use of Catering Sales systems such as Delphi, PMS, Oracle. 
  • Caterease experience a plus but not necessary
  • Pro-active, self motivated, loves challenges
