The Student's Society of McGill University (SSMU) is currently hiring. With over 20,000 members, SSMU's role is to represent students and to offer services since 1908.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Photographer will be responsible for taking photos of the SSMU’s social, political, and community events. They will also conduct photoshoots to capture group photos and headshots of SSMU staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Shooting and editing photographs for the SSMU;
  2. Ensuring their work meets internal policy standards;
  3. The Photographer is expected to attend events such as Activities’ Night, Legislative Council, General Assemblies, and other events as requested by the Communications Manager and the SSMU Executive.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

To undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Communications Manager or the Vice-President (Internal).

SUPERVISION REQUIRED:

The photographer receives general direction from the Communications Manager and, in their absence, the VP Internal.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. Experience in photography required;
  2. Able to work independently and in a team environment;
  3. Must be available during weekends and evenings;
  4. All applicants must submit a portfolio with a minimum of 15 pictures along with their resume and cover letter. All portfolios will be kept confidential and will be used only in the scope of the candidate selection purposes. 

Additional Information

  • Paid position: $15.05/hour
  • A portfolio is required

It is understood and agreed that all matters to the SSMU and those clubs associations or groups forming part of the SSMU are to be kept in the strictest of confidence, and nothing regarding the operations, policies and general activities of the SSMU or its constituent groups shall be divulged to any third party without the express consent of the General Manager and/or the Executive Committee of the SSMU.
