Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Eating Disorder Campaign Coordinator is to assist the Vice-President (Student Life) and EDCSSMU General Coordinator with the organization, communication, development and research of their Eating Disorder Campaign to expand EDCSSMU service format to other university campuses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate EDCSSMU Campaign alongside the General Coordinator of EDCSSMU, and the VP Student Life. 
  2. Coordinate with other branches of EDCSSMU to organize events around eating disorder education and advocacy, particularly in outreach with on-campus and external organizations.
  3. Support EDCSSMU in their various campaign efforts.
  4. Attend EDCSSMU meetings and provide updates on the campaign.
  5. Collect monthly data on EDCSSMU’s events, peer support services, and outreach and advocacy initiatives, and present it at the EDCSSMU meetings.
  6. Review and evaluate EDCSSMU’s external and internal processes by consulting coordinators and volunteers to ensure commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. 
  7. Work on the creation, and once created, implementation of an Eating Disorder Policy in collaboration with other SSMU services as well as SSMU staff.
  8. Work on grant applications and funding opportunities to support EDCSSMU’s activities
  9. Prepare outreach material for the expansion of EDCSSMU to other post-secondary institutions around the country.
  10. Coordinate consultations with groups having done relevant work and projects to the Campaign, as well as research to plan and perform the best processes for the Campaign.
  11. Coordinate between the student unions and EDCSSMU on the topic of eating disorders.
  12. Reach out, gather feedback from and collaborate with community organizations and professionals in order to ensure the campaign is inclusive, intersectional and conscious of all experiences, especially the ones of BIPOC individuals, and give the space and voice to these communities when in public spaces, speeches and media outlets.
  13. Take on any other tasks that the VP Student Life requests regarding the Eating Disorder Advocacy and Awareness Campaign.

 

 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

To undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by EDCSSMU General Coordinator.

SUPERVISION REQUIRED:

The EDSRC Campaign Coordinator receives general direction from the EDCSSMU General Coordinator and in their absence the Vice-President (Student Life).   

 

 

Qualifications

 

  1. Extensive knowledge of the functioning of campus advocacy, outreach campaigning, and demonstrating and around Eating Disorders/ Disordered Eating;
  2. Knowledge of mental health and eating disorders an asset;
  3. Good knowledge of Campaign Strategy, organization and procedures:
  4. Reliability, integrity, strong planning skills, strong analytical skills;
  5. Good communication skills both in English and French are preferred, 
  6. Comfortable with Collaborative Advocacy Campaign Planning and Strategy;
  7. Knowledge of financing and functioning of not-for-profits is an asset;
  8. Knowledge of the functioning of Canadian university campuses and mental health services is an asset.

  • Hours: 5-6 hours/week
  • Rate: $15.96/hour
