Job Description
GENERAL:
The Board of Directors (BoD) is the highest governing body of the Society and is responsible for overseeing decisions related to operations, finances, Human Resource (HR), and corporate status. Committees of the Board include:
Accountability Committee
Building and Operations Management Committee
Finance Committee
Funding
Gendered and Sexual Violence Policy Committee
Health and Dental Review Committee
Human Resource Committee
Nominating Committee
Students Society at McGill for Maintaining Operations and Strategic Advancement (SSAMMOSA) Committee

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attending Board of Directors meetings;
Dealing in any of the Society's Financial related decisions;
Dealing with HR matters of the Society;
Dealing with operational and administrative matters of the Society;
Acting as Legislative Council while Council is out of session during the Summer months.
Fulfilling the mandates associated with each Committee, as are listed individually in the Committee Terms of Reference;
Serving on at least one (1) committee of the Board of Directors;
Holding the Executive and Legislative Council accountable.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following persons shall not be eligible for the office of Director:
- Such persons who have not yet reached the age of majority;
- Such persons who are not qualified to be a Director due to the institution of a regime of protective supervision in their respect or by one of the common causes of extinction of obligations provided for by law, such as if such person is recognized by a court as having lost the ability to reason, if such person becomes bankrupt, suspends their payments or if such person makes arrangements with their creditors;
- Such persons who do not possess Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status;
- Such persons who are neither Members nor Officers.
- Such persons cannot be convicted of a crime and/or possess a criminal record.
The following will be taken in consideration during Nominating process:
- Strong knowledge of the SSMU and governance structures;
- Experience in financial, operational, and legal matters.
