Job Description

Reporting to and assisting the Vice President Finance, the Club Finance Commissioner is responsible for helping the finance portfolio manage the Society’s clubs in various aspects. The Finance Commissioner is also responsible facilitating club banking needs. Club banking needs include recommending and advising clubs on financial best practices.  

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. To help Full status and Interim clubs with their banking activities such as changing signing officers, organizing club credit cards and ordering banking resources.
  2. To help clubs’ financial officers develop transparent budgets and make recommendations as deemed necessary by the VP Finance and the General Manager concerning these budgets. 
  3. To meet with students involved in SSMU recognized clubs to teach and review financial procedures, club banking and assist in their implementation.
  4. To ensure control over internal rules and procedures over clubs.
  5. To identify problems and deviations from procedures and banking activities of clubs. All problems and deviations will be reported to the VP Finance.
  6. To answer questions and respond to emails directed to the Vice President (Finance) about the Students’ Society of McGill University.
  7. Complete various tasks assigned by the Vice President (Finance) as well as requests from the General Manager from time to time.
  8. Assist the Vice President (Finance) in filing paperwork and organize documents.
  9. Other tasks related to the position

 

 

Qualifications

  1. Ability to execute directions in a timely manner.
  2.  Ability to work with various student groups in a professional setting.
  3. Knowledgeable of SSMU and McGill University is favorable.
  4. Knowledge of SSMU and McGill University is favorable.
  5. Integrity, strong work ethic and high degree of organizational skills and accuracy.
  6. Formal Education: Bachelors or completing a bachelor’s in Commerce and/or Organizational Behavior or equivalent experience.
  7. Experience: Experience in a field that requires strong interpersonal skills

Additional Information

 

  • Term: June 15th, 2023 - May 31st, 2024.
  • Hours: 5-10 hours/week
  • Rate: $16.59/hour
