Job Description

The Business Solutions Manager —FINS (BSM-FINS) sits within the Workday COE and serves as the primary IT delivery, solutions architecture, and operational partner for Stream Realty Partners' Workday Financials (FINS) platform. This role combines accounting / finance technical strategy with hands-on functional architecture responsibilities, ensuring that Workday FINS is configured, governed, and continuously improved in alignment with business and people-strategy objectives.

As defined in Stream's Product Owner / Business Solutions Manager (APM-APO-BSM) framework, the BSM owns the 'how and when' of technology delivery — translating business priorities set by the FINS Application Product Owners into technically sound, well-governed solutions. The BSM-FINS is the single IT point of accountability for the Workday FINS portfolio, managing the full solution lifecycle from intake and evaluation through design, delivery, ongoing support, and continuous improvement.

The BSM-FINS oversees product delivery and governance, ensures alignment with accounting / finance and business goals, and also serves as an escalation point for critical Workday FINS issues, may act as Business Process (BP) Administrator and functional configurator, and is Stream's key liaison with any external application managed services (AMS) partner for human capital solutions.

1. Workday FIN Technical Strategy & Delivery

  • Collaborate with accounting / finance leadership, including FINS Product Owner(s), and HCM Operations team to define and maintain the Workday FINS technical roadmap.
  • Oversee end-to-end product delivery for Workday FINS modules, ensuring alignment with business objectives, people strategy, and enterprise IT direction.
  • Translate defined accounting / finance and business requirements into technical solutions, architecture decisions, and implementation plans for Workday FINS.
  • Monitor the Workday release calendar and assess new FINS features and functionality for adoption opportunities.
  • Provide IT leadership with portfolio-level status reporting, risk flags, and budget forecasting for the Workday FINS portfolio.
  • Assess and advise product owner(s) on the health and lifecycle of Workday FINS — including licensing, upgrades, integrations, and deprecation planning.

2. Functional Architecture & Configuration Oversight

  • Oversee Workday FINS configuration, ensuring solution integrity and alignment with HR business requirements and enterprise standards.
  • Guide and provide direction to functional FINS configurators on configuration best practices, business process design, and data integrity.
  • Act as Business Process (BP) Administrator and functional configurator as needed, particularly for complex or cross-functional configuration changes.
  • Specialize in functional configurations across Workday FINS modules (FDM, Core Accounting / Reporting, Accounting Center, Treasury / Cash, Supplier Accounts / AP, Order-to-Cash / AR, Projects / PSA, Fixed Assets, Tax, FP&A, , integrations) and ensure adherence to Workday best practices.
  • Coordinate with other Workday teams (FINS, Security, Integrations) to ensure cross-functional alignment and solution consistency.
  • Evaluate and document build vs. configure vs. integrate options; present trade-offs to stakeholders with recommended approaches.

3. Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure effective governance over the Workday FINS platform, including change management processes, intake prioritization, and release coordination.
  • Manage the enterprise application intake and risk scoring process for Workday FINS enhancement and change requests.
  • Assess all proposed changes against Stream's IT governance policies, data standards, security requirements, and integration architecture.
  • Own IT policy compliance, data privacy considerations (including Stream and client banking and financial information), and intake scoring for the Workday FINS portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the third-party support Release Manager on sprint assignments, release calendars, and change control adherence.

4. Solution Design, Implementation & Delivery

  • Work with SVP, Workday COE to co-lead cross-functional delivery teams (internal IT staff, vendors, managed service providers) through the full SDLC or Agile sprint cycles for Workday FINS initiatives.
  • Design integration patterns, data flows, and system configurations required to support Workday FINS solutions, including payroll, benefits, and talent management integrations.
  • Manage solution delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets.
  • Coordinate environment management, data migration, integration development, and configuration activities across IT resources and vendors.
  • Facilitate sprint ceremonies (planning, reviews, retrospectives) in partnership with the Application Product Owner.
  • Manage go-live execution: production deployment, cutover coordination, hypercare support, and post-launch stabilization.

5. Ongoing Support & Operations

  • Own the IT support model for Workday FINS: define and maintain support tiers (L1/L2/L3), escalation paths, and SLA targets.
  • Act as the primary IT liaison and escalation point for critical Workday FINS issues and cross-functional incidents.
  • Manage patch management; coordinate business impact assessments and regression testing with the Application Product Owner.
  • Lead platform upgrade and major release management: plan, test, coordinate, and communicate upgrades across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Oversee enhancement delivery: manage the intake, scoping, prioritization (in partnership with the APO), development, and release of ongoing product enhancements.
  • Maintain and continuously improve application runbooks, support documentation, and knowledge base articles.

6. Vendor & Contract Management

  • Evaluate Workday's vendor roadmap and assess the impact of upcoming releases or platform changes on Stream's FIN environment.

7. Business Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain a trusted partnership with the assigned Application Portfolio Manager and Application Product Owners; participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and portfolio review sessions.
