Job Title:         Human Resource Business Partner

Reporting to:  Head of HR and Administration

PROFILE INTRODUCTION      

This position serves to ensure that the assigned brands embrace the strategies and that the value in people is maximized while ensuring that the individual staff are fulfilled in the performance of the role. The role components include HR Strategy and compliance; implementation of HR processes and policies; employee welfare and wellness; employee engagement; performance management; learning and development; payroll and reward administration.

Key Areas of Responsibility 

1.     Drive the implementation of the HR strategy in the various businesses/brands and ensure that line managers understand the same;

2.     Develop and implement brand resourcing plans through an understanding of the structures, staffing, shift system, capacity and emerging needs;

3.     Develop and maintain an inventory of all brand resources (staff, qualifications, compliance status, cost, leave status, etc);

4.     Support and drive the realization of compliance across the assigned brands and flag areas of difficulty in the realization of compliance – leave liability, attendance, compliance to code of conduct;

5.     Ensure that systems and procedures are followed and line managers in the assigned brands understand the systems requirement;

6.     Manage the performance management cycle from setting performance targets, monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals, compiling results and recommending relevant responses;

7.     Manage the learning and development process by conducting Training Needs Assessment (TNA); identifying development needs; assessing and recommending interventions; and implementing remedial actions;

8.     Implementing talent management strategies including position identification, advertisement or targeted search; candidate screening (applying relevant approaches); organizing interviews (selecting panels and developing assessment tools); conducting interviews; facilitating selections; contracting new employees and on boarding new employees;

9.     Manage the disciplinary and separation processes in a manner that is in compliance with the Kenyan Labour laws;

10. Benefits Management: Liaising with HR Officer – Shared Services to ensure that staff medical benefit, pension, professional membership accreditation and renewal and all insurances are well managed and on time;

11. Liaise with Head of HR and Administration to address issues related to change of role, deployment and associated revision of terms for individual employees;

12. Liaise with Head of HR and Administration in developing and reviewing Organisation Structures and reporting relationships;

13. Inspiring positive and progressive organization culture anchored on common values; joint commitment and active employee engagement (implement agreed engagement activities);

14. HR Reporting: Develop and submit HR reports as per the agreed formats and on time for review and implementation;

15. Liaise with Finance department to ensure that all common areas of compliance are realized;

16. Support the Administration Officer in identifying all areas of facility, furniture and tools of trade that affect the productivity of staff or endanger the wellbeing and have them addressed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

·       A University degree in social sciences, Human Resources or any other relevant areas;

·       Compliance with the requirements of Institute of Human Resources Management – Higher National Diploma in Human Resources Management and a practicing license;

·       At least 6 years of experience in a business service oriented environment with frequent business changes requiring fast response from HR department;

·       Ability to identify and make strong business cases for HR projects targeting to yield great business results;

·       Understanding of talent requirements and dynamics in the creative and media industry;

·       Proven ability in implementing significant changes with impact in the cost, profitability or operational efficiency;

·       Ability to understand the metrics related to people, productivity and utilization.
