Job Description

Pay Range:  $70,829.45 - $79,3245.62

Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator reports to the Senior Corporate Safety and Health Manager, facilitates and assists in the identification, evaluation and control of safety and environmental risks at the location.  Provides, assists and/or facilitates skills-building and training of both leadership and plant employees.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
  2. Help facilitate and execute skills building programs as required.
  3. Coordinate, interpret and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations.  Have a working knowledge of laws/regulations and implementation/impact at a plant setting. 
  4. Assist with conducting industrial hygiene monitoring for the facility.
  5. Assist in auditing/inspecting, measuring and developing action plans regarding Health and Safety plant status and progress.
  6. Follow all safety, environmental rules and regulations.
  7. Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
  8. Serve as an active member of the plant’s Safety Committee. 
  9. Reviewing new/modified equipment/processes for Health and Safety purposes as needed.
  10. Attend daily production/quality meetings.
  11. Develop and maintain safety and environmental policies for the plant.
  12. Attend scheduled safety and GMP meetings.
  13. New hire training and orientation.
  14. Investigate safety related incidents.
  15. Provide weekly toolbox training topics.
  16. Provide safety training to contractors.
  17. Conduct/administer monthly safety training.
  18. Complete all associated paperwork/reports.
  19. Packaging Superintendent assumes responsibilities in his/her absence.

Qualifications

Education: BS in industrial hygiene, safety or environmental science is preferred; or relevant experience. High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Related Experience: Preferred minimum of 1-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point; Proficient in navigating OSHA, EPA and other key HSE regulations/web sites.

Additional Information

Physical: Must be able to climb stairs, sit, walk and stand for extended periods; type for prolonged periods of time.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

Sensory: Good Listening Skills; Public speaking abilities to communicate with both hourly and salaried personnel.

Mental/Reasoning: Strong analytical and problem solving abilities; must have practical experience to handle fast-paced environment
