Job Description
The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for the Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures and operations at the plant. Also responsible for training systems across all plant functional areas. Ensures the plant is in full compliance with all corporate, city, county, state and federal government Safety, Health and Environmental laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
- Coordinate, interpret and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations. Have a working knowledge of laws/regulations and implementation/impact at a plant setting
- Completes all local, state and federal environmental reports to ensure plant compliance.
- Ensures all incidents are reported to the required departments/agencies and all documents are distributed.
- Oversees the installation, maintenance and auditing of all security, fire protection equipment and develops hazards control practices and programs.
- Assist with conducting industrial hygiene monitoring for the facility.
- Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
- Serve as an active member of the plant’s Safety Committee.
- Leads incident and /or injury investigations in conjunction with line and staff personnel.
- Manages workers compensation programs and guidelines in conjunction with Human Resources
- Reviewing new/modified equipment/processes for Health and Safety purposes as needed.
- Develop and maintain safety and environmental policies for the plant.
- New hire training and orientation.
- Investigate safety related incidents.
- Provide weekly tool box training topics.
- Provide safety training to contractors.
- Conduct/administer monthly safety training.
- Implements audit systems which focus on accountability and corrective action.
- Implements programs to improve plant safety performance in order to meet plant goals.
- Prepares monthly EHS reports summarizing key statistics, data and training activities/needs.
Qualifications
Education: BS in industrial hygiene, safety or environmental science is preferred; or relevant experience.
Related Experience: Preferred minimum of 1-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point; Proficient in navigating OSHA, EPA and other key HSE regulations/web sites. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Additional Information
Physical: Must be able to conduct plant walkthroughs and inspections/audits up to 4 hours at a time, to include walking and climbing up/down stairs and ladders (portable, fixed).
Sensory: Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual, hearing, speaking, smell and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal, abnormal and alarm conditions (chemicals, temperature, etc.)
Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and processes to enable effective communication with all levels of the organization.
