Job Description
Responsible for operating and overseeing the automated paint line and conventional over for the painting of structural steel beams. Ensures proper coating application, equipment functionality, and quality control throughout the painting and baking process.
- Operates automated paint line machines, ovens and baths and pumps
- Calibrates high-voltage settings on electrostatic paint guns to maximize transfer efficiency and minimize overspray
- Sets and monitors conventional oven temperatures and bake times according to the specific technical data sheets (TDS) of the paint being used
- Knowledge and awareness of ATEX zoning limits (Zone 1 internal spray volumes, Zone 2 surrounding parameters) to prevent flammable gas or dust buildup
- Responsible for running the PH degreasing bath equipment
- Monitors and maintains the chemical balance of liquid baths using bath controls, pH tablets, and titration products
- Conduct quality inspections using Elcometer instruments to test and verify paints, powders, and protective coatings meet required specifications
- Maintain cleanliness of paint areas, tools, and all equipment
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED; vocational training a plus.
Experience:
- 1+ years industrial painting experience required
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications and blueprints
- Ability to read tape measures, and do basic math, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Detail oriented, good problem-solving and team player
- Physical stamina; frequently required to stand; walk; reach above shoulders, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; work in confined or enclosed spaces; work at elevated heights
