Job Description
The Corporate Counsel provides legal support and advice to the company on a wide range of legal matters related to corporate operations. This position works closely with other members of the legal team and business units to identify and manage legal risks and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide resolution of business or technical issues by identifying legal solutions and recommending a course of action.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of complex customer, vendor, and partnership agreements, NDAs, and DPAs.
- Support the sales team throughout the customer contract lifecycle, including upgrades, cross-selling, and amendments.
- Oversee the data privacy program to ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and European data privacy laws as well as industry best practices.
- Review security documentation for customer engagements.
- Advise on labor and employment compliance in 32 states + 6 Canadian provinces, including restrictive covenants, separation agreements, employee rights, investigations, and HR policies and procedures.
- Analyze and advise on new products and features throughout the development lifecycle to mitigate legal risk and ensure compliance while supporting the strategic focus of the product and development teams.
- Manage trademark strategy and enforcement with support of outside counsel for Appcast brands in US and EU.
- Negotiate commercial leases for US and Canadian office locations.
- Partner with the StepStone group and Appcast Labs to research, monitor, and facilitate the use of AI.
- Monitor legislative changes that affect the company in each jurisdiction in which it operates.
- Manage outside counsel relationship.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with an ability to collaborate cross-functionally and learn quickly.
- Expertise in global and domestic data protection laws and practices.
- Capable of conducting data privacy compliance reviews and audits.
- Strong attention to detail, exceptionally organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical vocabulary and the ability to communicate and translate between legal issues and business concerns.

Education and Experience
- Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school.
- Currently admitted to a state bar and able to obtain admission to NH or MA state bar within 6 months of hire.
- 5+ years' experience in a similar corporate counsel position.
- Understanding of the legal-tech landscape
- CIPP-E and CIPP-US preferred
Travel Requirements
- Travel for this position will be required as needed to attend Executive and client meetings.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position will manage and lead other members of the legal team including the Associate Corporate Counsel position.
Work Location and Schedule
- This is a hybrid position with work completed in one of the Appcast offices and a remote home office.
- Typical schedules will be three days working in the office location and the remainder of week from home, however, may vary based on business or work/life balance needs.
