Job Description

Appcast is currently seeking a European Labor Economist with a focus on the German and U.K. markets. Based in Düsseldorf or London, you’ll be the lead European labor economist for the Recruitonomics team. You will be tasked to engage critically and creatively with economic questions using your technical and analytical skills. Your main objective is to produce labor market research with actionable insights on topics relevant to recruiters and talent acquisition professionals in Germany and the U.K.

As a leader in programmatic job advertising, Appcast offers a premier opportunity to further develop your career in economics. Everyday projects include analyzing wage and employment trends, measuring job advertising performance, creating compelling data visualizations, writing up research findings as blogs or whitepapers, and ad hoc research/reporting.

  • Lead the Recruitonomics team’s research on the German and U.K. labor markets
  • Research and write blog posts and whitepapers for Recruitonomics, on labor economic topics relevant to recruiters and talent acquisition professionals
  • Speak to the media in Germany and the U.K.
  • Interact directly with German and U.K. clients about their recruiting challenges
  • In partnership with our development team, create software tools to query and analyze Appcast’s proprietary dataset that has over 10 billion clicks, 1.7 billion applications, and 1 billion postings

Qualifications

  • Fluency in German (writing and speaking)
  • A degree in economics or a similar subject allowing you to think quantitatively about economic challenges
  • Minimum 5 years of experience analyzing economic data; more experience preferred
  • Ability to comprehend, extract, and massage economic data from public data sources like the Federal Statistical Office (Germany) and the  Office of National Statistics (U.K.)
  • At least intermediate proficiency at statistical programming using R, Stata, and/or Python
  • Fluency in SQL
  • Experience with data visualization tools (ggplot2, D3.js, Tableau, etc.)
  • Clear and engaging writing ability
