Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Financial Accountant to work within the Totaljobs Finance team. This role will ideally suit a PQA or newly qualified individual with 3-5 years experience. Min 2:1 Degree or similar in a numeric based subject is essential. In addition, a career to date that demonstrates a solid understanding of general accounting. The ideal candidate will have been involved in or produced stat accounts, good understanding of IFRS and GAAP. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will be focusing on supporting the ‘Product Solutions’ sales team, implementing financial processes and controls around new products. 

In addition, you will gain experience across all aspects of control, compliance and statutory reporting across the broader Atlantic finance team comprising of Totaljobs Group and Saon Group. 

This is an exciting opportunity which offers you the opportunity to work closely with the commercial teams and shape the processes from order to cash. 

The role is based in Stepstone UK head office in central London, with occasional travel to our Havant office as necessary. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the order to cash process for the Product Solutions team 

  • Embed the newly created process, update and amend as necessary 

  • Liaising with sales to ensure contacts are completed accurately, signed and filed 

  • Ensuring completeness of billing information to facilitate invoicing and collection 

  • Raise invoices for this product line 

  • Accurately report and recognise revenue and costs 

  • Calculate and post journals for deferred revenue, accrued revenue, cost of sales and commission. 

  • Apply accurate nominal coding and adhere to group policy and apply local GAAP and/or IFRS 

  • Weekly reporting of invoiced sales, revenue and order book 

  • Work with the business to prepare forecasts and budgets 

  • Calculation of commission payments 

  • Booking and reconciliation of intercompany transactions 

  • Monthly reporting and analysis 

  • Additionally support the financial accountant with a variety of financial task, including, but not limited to: Balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting, statutory account preparation, banking and various compliance tasks for the wider business 

Qualifications

Desirable skills:

  • Part or newly qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA 

  • Minimum of two years experience in an accounting environment 

  • Highly motivated and results oriented 

  • Logical and proactive approach to problem solving 

  • Ability work to tight deadlines 

  • Excellent attention to accuracy and detail 

  • Good knowledge of accounting standards, especially with application to revenue 

  • Technical knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP would be an advantage 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation 

  • Experience of working in a busy finance team and ability to manage competing priorities  

  • Confident, motivated and results oriented 

  • Strong academic background and a proactive approach to learning and development 

  • Experience of Oracle Financials an advantage 

  • Strong Excel skills
