Position : Strategic Sourcing Manager # 93079

Duration: 4 months

Location: Whippany, New Jersey 07981

 

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. A second language will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility within a major pharmaceutical company or leading Contract Research Organization.
  • The ability to establish strong credibility with both internal and external colleagues and vendors based on previous experience is a pre-requisite.

Competencies:

  • A basic understanding of research and development processes, financial management, procurement and purchasing and contract law.
  • An understanding of the service supplier industry.
  • Negotiation skills are essential to ensure that all contract negotiations are conducted effectively and with consistency within the BHC procurement guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills to enable the incumbent to effectively create and maintain alliances with both internal and external colleagues.
  • Ability to multi-task, time-manage and use initiative.

 

Description:

  • This position reports into Head of Global Sourcing Area and works within BHC Procurement across legal entities and national boundaries with astrong focus on procurement strategy and service delivery.
  • This position would provide contract support within a therapeutic or division specialty.
  • This position will also support the identification, selection, and management of suppliers and contracts across the sourcing area.
  • Ensuring key needs of project team are met within the global R&D sourcing strategy.
  • Develops and maintains constructive relationships with internal personnel/ functions who utilize R&D services.
  • Serves as the focal point for incoming information related to a specific sourcing project.
  • Contributes to the ongoing process improvement activities within the R&D Sourcing Services area, ensuring compliance with relevant SOPs and processes.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Contributing to BHC Procurement savings and synergy targets through effective contract negotiation..
  • Ensures contract payment schedules are within R&D sourcing strategy and BHC procurement guidelines.
  • Coordinates payment process with key customer and vendor.
  • Ensures quality control and quality management throughout the sourcing and contracting function.
  • Analyzes, tracks, and utilizes performance data within a centralized repository.

Vendor Selection, Management & Contracting

  • Establishes an effective relationship with key service vendors.
  • Supports project teams in the identification and selection of vendors through an effective Request for Proposal process.
  • Negotiates and executes Letter of Intent, Master Service Agreement attachments and associated appendices, contract and payment schedules, as necessary, with suppliers, in collaboration with legal representatives.
  • Ensures the ongoing protection of BHC by identifying risks andrisk mitigation processes within all contracts.
  • Facilitates contract re-negotiations according to changes in scope and execute contract amendments.
  • Mediates and facilitates resolution of project-related issues between vendor and project team.
  • Evaluates service provided by vendors based on delivery, budget and quality parameters.
  • Maintains awareness of vendor market.

  • The incumbent must ensure that services are purchased at the appropriate price. - Appropriate and effective selection and management of vendors will contribute to both cost savings and also positively impact NDA submission timelines and subsequent product launches.
  • This effectiveness is measured by ongoing Key Performance Indicators and benchmarks.
  • The incumbent must facilitate both internal and external relationships – using tactful and diplomatic strategies to result in a win-win situation for both internal and external challenges.
  • Negotiation of project-specific contracts – ongoing liaison with suppliers, as well as with internal procurement and legal colleagues.
