Job Description
Mid State Metals LLC is searching for an Estimating Manager to review construction bid documents, blueprints and specifications in order to prepare detailed estimates and take-offs for miscellaneous metals projects (steel stairs, railings, ladders, etc.).
- Manage all aspects of estimating department.
- Calculate labor, material and equipment costs to develop an estimate and bid proposal.
- Prepare estimate prices on change orders for ongoing projects.
- Obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors and specified manufacturers to complete a materials and labor take-off.
- Prepare required bid forms and documents.
- Complete work in a timely manner to meet bid schedules.
- Respond to clients in a timely manner.
Qualifications
College degree preferred with a degree in Engineering, Detailing or 3D Modeling. Previous work experience in estimating, project management or drafting may substitute.
- Minimum of 5 years experience estimating steel projects.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols and construction plans.
- Thorough understanding of steel fabrication and erection methods.
- Previous experience using design/detailing software is preferred.
- Ability to learn a proprietary estimating software.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at a time and manage time efficiently.
