With our project Zerbst, a PV-storage co-location project (47 MWp PV, 16 MW battery storage) in Sachsen-Anhalt, we have taken a large step into battery energy storage system (BESS) business development in Germany. To expand this activity, we are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Energy Storage Manager (f/m/d) to join our wind, solar and storage development team in Germany. This role reports into the Head of Energy Storage Germany.
Job Description
Key activities that you will be managing:
- Leading energy storage projects in all stages from initiation through permitting, design, procurement, planning and business case validation to investment decision, i.e. to status construction-ready
- Contributing to the further development and implementation of a utility-scale battery storage strategy in Germany – considering both stand-alone BESS projects and co-located with solar PV or wind
- Having full responsibility for management of project budgets, programs, and schedules from early-stage development to point of construction
- Engaging with legal, land, compliance, health and safety, commercial, grid connection and engineering colleagues to integrate these specialisms in your projects
- Managing external service providers with purchase orders and contracts including planning consultants, land agents, and technical experts
- Supporting the projects through construction stage and in operation
- Regular reporting on your project progress to the team and management
- Stakeholder management (internal and external) especially landowners, agents and local community
Qualifications
- Degree in Renewable energy, business, engineering or other relevant field
- Commercial drive and motivation to achieve outstanding results
- Good understanding of the German power system & electricity market, the business case for BESS and the relevant regulatory framework
- Excellent team-player with very good interpersonal and communication skills, project management skills
- Competency in working in an international environment
- Some years of relevant experience is an advantage
- Fluency in German and English
