The business area European Wind and Solar (E) is responsible for development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. The business area is also responsible for the project execution of large projects in Statkraft across the energy technologies, the group procurement function and new business opportunities.
The HSS team in Statkraft’s Project Delivery Unit is responsible for HSS management during all phases of project execution and for developing and implementing the HSS practices across all the business area’s activities. It is also responsible for HSS expertise and resources in these projects.
We are growing our business in the UK, and need an HSS Advisor in the UK to strengthen the business area’s HSS team. The position will be based in Glasgow.
Travelling will be required as you will need to be periodically present at our construction sites for follow-up in UK, and at our office location in Glasgow.
You will report to the HSS Manager UK, with a functional line to the HSS department at the corporate headquarters in Oslo.
Job Description
As HSS Advisor your main responsibilities will be to:
- Have the role as HSS Advisor for the project portfolio, all projects within onshore wind, solar power, and grid systems advising the project managers on HSS matters from early development throughout to operations handover.
- You will coach, manage and follow-up our local HSS resources designated for each project.
- Liaison with contractors HSS staff in construction projects
- Contribute to the establishment of a good HSS culture in the projects - including project kick-offs
- Participate in relevant activities in all phases of project development and acquisitions
- Carry out HSS reviews, inspections and audits across the business area’s activities
- Lead or participate in investigations of serious incidents
- Assurance, investigation and other support HSS activities to projects elsewhere in our project portfolio is expected (outside UK)
- Be responsible for the implementation of efficient HSS work processes in our projects in the UK in accordance with Statkraft governance, also cooperating with UK HSS
- Liaison with authorities and government bodies, including participation in safety forums and technical committees on behalf of Statkraft
Qualifications
- University degree in engineering or equivalent
- Relevant experience within the HSS in an industrial work environment
- IOSH & NEBOSH Trained
- Knowledge of ISO:45001
- Practical experience from execution of large construction projects, preferably within the renewable energy industry
- Detailed knowledge of UK HSS legislation and CDM Regulations 2015
- Result oriented, structured and flexible with ability to create good work relations
- A team player, who can work independently and with ability to drive the HSS improvement work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
