    Job Description

    We are now expanding in a number of European markets and need a Senior Grid Engineer to strengthen the business area’s Project Development team. The team is responsible for the project execution of large renewables projects in Statkraft of wind and solar development from early phase to operational phase, the main purpose of the Senior Grid Engineer role is to work as an effective member of the Grid Team in the provision of high quality technical expert input across all aspects of Grid Connection . You will report to the Grid Manager, Ireland.  

    Your role: 

    As a Senior Grid Engineer your main responsibilities will be:  

    • Manage and optimise grid connection process at all stages from initial site selection, feasibility assessment and connection application submission, through offer process, design and functional specification to construction, commissioning/testing, energisation and commercial operation.
    • Work with the wider Statkraft Team to ensure timely and within budget Project Development including project reporting, with key responsibility for all Grid and Electrical aspects of sites. 
    • Support other members of the Statkraft team in the early stage development with grid assessment of sites. 
    • Complete high-level electrical design and functional specification for projects – including solar/turbines, substation and wind farm MV network.
    • Work closely with the Project Development and Delivery Teams in scoping, assessing and negotiating the technical & commercial aspects and designs of Solar/Turbine Supply, EPC & related tender submissions and contracts.  And subsequently manage and track performance against Employer’s Requirements.
    • Ensure grid risks are minimised with best value delivered whilst monitoring and communicating risks to project teams to ensure business cases are up to date with all project delivery timescales, costs (TUoS/DUoS) and energy impacts (constraints / curtailment / TLAF / DLAF / Electrical losses) 

    Qualifications

    • Masters, university degree in engineering or natural sciences 
    • Keen interest and affinity in working with renewables in particular the grid connection process for wind and solar renewable energy projects.  
    • Proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail. 
    • Strong communication, relationship building (including multi-team player) and people skills. 
    • Well organised and target oriented; strong ability to prioritize. 
    • Ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations and risk/benefit, both in written and verbal format to project teams. 
    • Independent self-starter with a clear ability to manage a large workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritizing tasks and effectively juggling competing deadlines. 
    • Knowledge of Power Systems an advantage
